The answer to this question varies from patient to patient. While some patients with allergies may be more allergic to metal, others may be more allergic to plastic. Those who may have a metal allergy are better off with Invisalign while those who may be allergic to plastic are safer with traditional metal braces.

In our years of practice, we have found that most patients with allergies are sensitive to metal and could benefit from Invisalign clear aligners. They may experience irritation and discomfort from metal brackets and wires and can straighten their teeth in a pain-free, comfortable way with Invisalign.

Invisalign is typically preferred because it makes it easy for patients to straighten their teeth in a discreet way. The clear aligners can be removed for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing.

As long as patients wear their aligners for at least 22 hours a day, they’ll see their teeth slowly but surely move into their proper positions. At the end of their treatment, they’ll enjoy an improved smile and greater confidence.
