WHAT IS THE MOST REWARDING PART ABOUT BEING AN ORTHODONTIST?

This one is the easiest question to answer.  If you watch any of the videos on my website you can see I am so grateful to be in a profession that provides such a life changing service to so many kids and adults.  We transform a patient’s smile but that does so much more for them. It is so rewarding to watch a shy, unconfident kid just come out of their shell, start talking and smiling more and just being more confident once their teeth start getting straighter.  I have an opportunity to connect with so many kids (and adults) and not only build a relationship with them but influence them in a positive way.

I am part of the cleft palate and craniofacial clinic and many of these patients have been through so much.  They have very complex dental and orthodontic needs and it can be very challenging technically but also emotionally.  Watching them positively change physically and emotionally is one of the most rewarding things we do at my office.

In Pensacola, Florida our orthodontics staff can assist adults who are seeking to improve…

  • Crowding on the lower teeth
  • Relapse due to not wearing retainer as a kid
  • Crooked teeth in the front
  • Buck teeth
  • Gapped front teeth
  • Confidence when smiling
  • Their smile with Invisalign or clear braces.

“Dr. Sims has been part of my son’s cleft care team for the past 4 years and has always been great for all the kids seen there. The time they decorated for Christmas with a Polar Express theme and Dr. Sims dressed as the conductor will be a family memory we will always cherish. 10 out of 10 would recommend!”

I would consider myself a true Hometown orthodontist in Pensacola. I was born in Pensacola and lived in Gulf Breeze until I left for college. I had the opportunity to fulfill my dream of practicing orthodontics in Pensacola when Dr. Trawick entrusted me with the responsibility of his 40-year-old practice. I am honored to provide orthodontics to many of the grandchildren of his former patients. The location is conveniently located for anyone living in Pensacola. It is also a top orthodontics practice for those living in Pace, Milton, Cantonment, and Perdido with a maximum of 15 minute drive. Our office is right off I-110 and next door to Barnes and Nobles and Sam’s Club.

Fun Fact: We also occasionally have patients fly in for treatment if they have moved as the office is only five minutes from the Pensacola International Airport.  Dr. Sims loves to fish, so if you do please share your best fishing stories!

For the longer morning appointments many parents drop their kids off and go to Sam’s Club to do some bulk shopping. Read this page in Spanish here – Ortodóncista de Pensacola, Florida

Orthodontic Services Offered at Our Braces, Invisalign and Orthodontic Services in Pensacola, FL

Here are some highlights of treatments available at our office.

Invisalign

Looking for a straighter smile but can’t bear the thought of wearing traditional metal braces? Invisalign may be a good option for you. The Invisalign aligners are removable and virtually invisible, which means you can straighten your teeth without anyone knowing! Plus, Dr. Sims is a board-certified Invisalign Premier Provider, which means he has achieved a significant level of experience in treating patients with the Invisalign system. Adolescent Treatment

The most common age for braces is between 11-years-old and 15-years-old. This is usually the perfect time for treatment because children at this age are growing rapidly, and we can take advantage of these growth spurts to help shape the bite and teeth correctly.

Adult Treatment

Braces aren’t just for kids anymore! Orthodontic treatment later in life can drastically improve your personal appearance and self-esteem, as well as the health of your teeth and gums. If you are experiencing gum and/or bone loss, tooth decay, abnormal wear of tooth enamel and tooth surfaces, headaches, or jaw (TMJ/TMD) pain, this may be a result of crooked teeth or a bad bite. That’s where we come in!

Two-Phase Treatment

Two-phase orthodontic treatment is a specialized process that combines tooth straightening and physical facial changes. Sims Orthodontics in Pensacola, Florida uses the two-phase treatment to give children the healthiest, most functional, and most beautiful result, which will remain stable throughout their lives.

Surgical Orthodontics

For most patients, orthodontic treatment can be provided without any need for surgery. However, in more severe cases, corrective surgical treatment may be the best option to help you achieve the results you want and deserve. If you suffer from jaw bone abnormalities, bite abnormalities, or malocclusion (the abnormal alignment of the upper and lower teeth), Sims Orthodontics can help answer your questions about surgical treatment and refer you to the best surgeon in town.

Retention

Getting your braces taken off is cause for celebration, and all of us at Sims Orthodontics certainly commend you for reaching this important milestone in your orthodontic treatment! However, orthodontic treatment does not end when the braces are removed. At this point, you begin the retention stage of your treatment, and your final orthodontic result will depend on your retainers.
