Whether you’re a child, teen, or adult, you deserve a healthy smile and straight teeth. If your teeth are crooked, crowded, or you are facing and overbite, underbite, or another orthodontic issue, you can correct your smile through braces.
Here at Sims Orthodontics, we are pleased to offer braces to patients from all walks of life who live in Pensacola and the surrounding areas. While some patients may benefit from traditional metal braces, others may be good candidates for Invisalign. Invisalign aligners are often preferred because they allow patients to straighten their teeth discreetly and comfortably.
Invisalign Process:
Invisalign aligners are becoming ever so popular among many patients since the treatment time for Invisalign can be much less than with traditional braces. For many, this is can be a huge selling point!
The process of Invisalign starts with multiple digital scans of the teeth. Once your mouth is scanned a 3D model of the teeth will be constructed into the computer and a digital treatment plan will be created with special software. From this treatment plan, you’ll be able to see each and every small, tooth movement before your eyes. Through the series of individualized tooth movements will be accompanied with your unique aligners to ensure that each movement is being made. Once your smile has reached its desired position, you’ll be finished with your Invisalign treatment and be happy with the results!
When you go to your favorite restaurants in Pensacola, you will have to remember to put your Invisalign in after eating. Our patients love going to George Bistro + Bar, McGuire’s Irish Pub and Taqueria El Asador after their appointment(s) at our Pensacola office. Fortunately, we have a well trained staff that reminds our patients to not forget their Invisalign after consuming a fantastic meal.
Braces:
Perhaps the most obvious benefit of getting braces is the confidence that you can enjoy after you get them off and your teeth are straight. You’ll find that once your mouth is free of orthodontic issues and your teeth look great, you’ll look and feel your very best.
In addition to the aesthetic benefits, braces can provide you with many health benefits. First and foremost, they can reduce your risk of tooth decay and gum disease. They can also take away any stress your jaw may be facing and prevent dysfunction of the Temporomandibular Joint. Additionally, braces can resolve any headaches or facial pain you may be facing as a result of crooked teeth.
Many of our patients are concerned about getting food stuck in their teeth with braces. While this was once a major concern, it is much easier to use floss with braces. You can go to the local Pensacola Target or WalMart and pick up Platypus or Orthopicks. If you would like a suggestion, you can always contact our office.
Taking Care of Braces:
As you know, braces help to give you a straight smile, which positively impacts your oral health. However, if you choose to undergo treatment with braces, you’ll be quick to learn that they may be difficult to keep clean. Despite this difficulty, it is imperative that you keep your braces and teeth clean during the process!
Helpful Hints to Keep Your Teeth Clean with Braces:
- Brush and clean in between the teeth regularly with dental floss to make sure that the gums stay healthy.
- In addition to flossing regularly, if you invest in a water flosser, this certainly can’t hurt at all. In fact, a waterflosser is a great tool to clean your brackets, wires and to make sure the gums stay in top condition.
- If possible, brush after every meal or snack to rid of any food particles stuck on the teeth or brackets. If brushing isn’t possible directly after a meal, be sure to at least rinse your mouth out thoroughly with water and brush once you are able to.
- Try carrying a travel toothbrush with you in the event you are out and in need of a quick brush.
- Ask the orthodontist for interproximal brushes for any tough to reach food particles when flossing may not do the job.
Braces are Beneficial:
Although braces are a time and money investment, they are always worth it. They can increase your happiness and prevent headaches and the need for costly dental treatments down the road. Additionally, braces allow you to get creative and personalize your own look. Whether you choose lime green bands, pink, or clear bands you can get as creative or subtle as you wish.
